For the Commonwealth highlights the important work our prosecutors are doing to secure justice in specific cases brought by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. Today we highlight the work of ADA Bryan Barth of our Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit.

ADA Bryan Barth of the office’s Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit received a successful sentencing verdict following the waiver trial of a defendant who was convicted of restraining and raping a 15-year-old girl in her home. The defendant was a family friend of the victim and took the stand, but during cross examination, corroborated the victim’s testimony. The Hon. Judge Gwendolyn Bright sentenced the defendant to 5 to 10 years of incarceration plus 10 years of sex offender probation on three felonies.
