For the Commonwealth highlights the important work our prosecutors are doing to help secure justice in specific cases brought by the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.

Assistant District Attorney Eli Klein of our Major Trials Unit helped secure justice recently in a case involving a defendant accused of illegal possession of a firearm. After responding to reports that the defendant had assaulted his girlfriend and brandished a firearm at her outside of his home, Philadelphia Police were able to locate the fleeing defendant and the firearm inside the defendant’s home. Using facts and evidence including the defendant’s calls from prison, ADA Klein was able to impeach the testimony of one of the defendant’s family members to secure justice. The defendant was found guilty after a waiver trial and is scheduled for sentencing before the Hon. Shanese I. Johnson in January 2021.
