PHILADELPHIA (November 4, 2019) — On the eve of Pennsylvania’s general election, District Attorney Larry Krasner announced that the District Attorney’s Office (DAO) Election Task Force (ETF) will once again be activated and prepared to respond to allegations of illegal electioneering and any other criminal activity affecting voting on Election Day, November 5th.
“On Tuesday, Philadelphians will head to the polls to cast their vote using new electronic voting machines. My office urges all who are eligible to exercise this most precious right to make a plan to vote, keeping in mind that the debut of the new touchscreen devices might result in some delays,” District Attorney Krasner said. “Remember, if you are in line by 8:00 p.m. when polls are scheduled to close you must be permitted to vote, so stay in line. In the event that you are subject to or witness illegal activity, such as campaigning inside polling locations, call the Election Task Force hotline at 215–686–9641, 215–686–9643, or 215–686–9644.”
Approximately 50 Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) and about 20 specially assigned DAO Detectives will be deployed throughout Philadelphia when the polls open at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning. Task Force members will be assigned to Election Court and at the DAO’s main office.
The ETF was created in 2014 to investigate and prosecute allegations of Election Day criminal activity. It is part of the DAO Special Investigations Unit and will be issuing updates through the @PhilaDAO Twitter account while polls are open from 7:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m.
