Honestly communicating culture

As the old saying goes, “you have one chance to make a first impression”. This is objectively true, but first impressions are only half the battle.

Organisations tell stories about their culture in many ways, through marketing, the interview process, and the content they choose to produce and share. All in an effort to paint a picture of how they would like to be perceived.

But the single biggest manifestation of culture is how the people in your organisation behave: internally with each other, with partners, and with customers. If that behaviour is incongruent with the story you’ve been communicating, trust evaporates.

And trust is much easier to build than it is to win back.
