Leading the charge
If you’re thinking about leading the charge for organisational change the presupposition would be that you’re not happy with some aspect of how things are currently functioning. The impetus for change is usually some form of discomfort, either current or looming in the future if things remain the same, (usually it’s the former). You’ve seen something that needs fixing and you have the drive to fix it.
This is admirable.
But make no mistake, leading change is often difficult, sometimes all-consuming, and always requires a particular skill set. You now need to think about whether you want to take on the challenge. Are you equipped with the motivation, the competencies and the capacity to mobilise people to deliver your idea?
This is a serious question and one which much be answered honestly.
And if not you, then who?
What will be your move if things don’t change?
