The problem of abuse is everywhere. It can be found on Facebook, Instagram, Google+ and YouTube as well. I have been receiving lots of racial slurs online via different social media platforms. Plenty of people have experienced the same.

Why the problem still exists? Most of the platforms only have blocking functions so far. First, we don’t have a better system to regulate what people can say online than blocking them. If social media platforms regulate harshly, people will complain such regulation across their rights of expression. This is the thing that not tech company can control. Also it is not part of their jobs. Social Media platform is not a police station to screen what everyone says online. It is, rather, a platform on the playground.

Don’t blame the abuse issue toward tech companies. They provide a platform and services for the public only.
