Do not get me wrong. This is not about being a philanthropist and not making money. Instead it is some kind of a win-win situation where you help people and earn money from it.

When people start selling products online they concentrate on selling products online. And of course you should concentrate on your main business.

Nevertheless, companies often forget that the internet is about information and that most people use it for information prior to their purchases. So if you sell something online, publish buying guides, tips, tests or similar for your product category.

Now why does this work and what do you get for the extra amount of work that you put into writing those information texts?

  1. Search Engine Optimization
    If you choose the right words, people will find your article if they look for information on how to buy the best product in your category. If you know at least a bit about SEO, you know that this kind of traffic is by far the most valuable.
  2. Building Trust
    If you write honest articles people will get to know you as a good source of information and therefore are more willing to buy your products and will probably come back in the future to get more information. When people know that you not just care about selling but offering people help and want to make sure they are happy with their purchase, you reached your goal and will be successful without further ado.
