Our world’s hunger is getting out of control. You could say that there are more fruits in a rich man’s shampoo than on a poor man’s plate. Yes, this is the sad reality of our world. But with the advancement of technology, you could say that we could end world hunger soon. Our world is working hard to turn zero hunger into reality. Here are a few ways in which organisations, all around the world, are promoting to zero hunger.

1. Gene-Edited Crops

By 2050, it is estimated that there will be around 9.7 billion people on Earth and it could peak at nearly 11 billion people by 2100. To feed the rising population, we must think of a solution. That is when the concept of gene-edited crops is ideal. Gene-edited crops is a faster form of breeding crops. Numerous companies are being created to help develop the nutrition of food with the guarantee of fulfilling high quality and trusted ingredients. The powerful new gene-editing technology known as CRISPR (Otherwise known as Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats) allows researchers to correct genetic defects, treat and prevent the spread of diseases and improve crops, thereby increasing the amount of food produced.

2. Advancements in Precision Agriculture

Precision Agriculture in simple words is a farming management concept that incorporates the use of internet of things (IoT) technologies into farming management. Many agriculture companies are currently implementing technology ecosystems that combine the use of tractors which are not powered by humans, drones, and other precisions equipment so that future farmers will be able to make smarter production decisions and boost crop yields, making farms more efficient.

3. 3D Food Printing

3D printing food has a lot of advantages. It is healthy and good for the environment as it can help convert alternative ingredients such as proteins from algae, beet leaves, or insects into tasty products which can be consumed by us. Not only that, but it also saves a lot of space and gives many possibilities to make the consumption of products like meat more sustainable. According to recent innovations, it is possible for machines to print, cook and provide food on a mass scale. This technology will not only help us here on Earth but also provide us with more comfortable space travel.

These are just some technologies which are helping to end world hunger. There are many, many more technologies which are invented help us overcome this challenge. The world is constantly making incredible progress in the fight against world hunger. Thanks to the developing technologies, a future of zero hunger seems to be right within our grasp.
