(Almost) Full Moon
Although the moon looks full in this shot, it actually isn’t. The complete full moon will be on May 05 this year. It is also known as the “Flower Moon”. Why “Flower Moon”, you ask?
Simple… it is because May is normally the month when flowers begin to spring forth across North America. In other beliefs, each Full moon tends to have it’s own name corresponding to the different beliefs of the region.
You can actually thank The Farmers’ Almanac for this one — the famous publication typically used Native American, Colonial American, and European sources to name each month’s full moon. (Almanac.com)
