Beginning Photography As A Hobby

From what I can tell, photography is becoming an increasingly popular hobby, as I’ve seen more and more people roaming the streets having fun with their cameras, and this got me thinking, why not share some advice for those who might be tempted to try?

Before I continue, I have to add that I am by no means a professional from National Geographic, neither am I the owner of an Instagram-famous account. No, I’m simply a man with a hobby, the everyday man with a simple interest in capturing the beauty of his surroundings. If you feel that this is what you relate to as well then this article is right up your alley. Otherwise, I’m sure there’re more professional guides out there that’ll suit your needs.

To keep things simple, I have decided to categorize the tips into five “Es”, namely — “expenses”, “eyes”, “explore”, “experiment”, and “editing”. Each of them has a role to play when it comes to enhancing your experience, but at the end of the day, they’re just guidelines that are there to help, rather than instructions that you must follow to get the most out of photography.

Expenses

The first E is “expenses”, which could be a barrier right from the start. It’s no secret that photography is an expensive hobby, so if you’re thinking of starting, do ensure that you have enough cash to fund your hobby. Regardless…
