William Gibson Photograph — Alex Waterhouse-Hayward

A few days ago a Twitter friend Lenore Riegel https://twitter.com/lenoreriegel?lang=en suggested I post my photographs with relevant quotes on #1000Words. Before I knew it I had posted many. It was fun. It was also challenging to find quotes that fit withing the 280 characters limit. Here are two:

#1000Words photo alexwh “Laney’s node-spotter function [from Idoru] is some sort of metaphor for whatever it is that I actually do. There are bits of the literal future right here, right now, if you know how to look for them.” William Gibson

#1000Words William F. Buckley photo alexwh “Only one picture Alex.” He told me while sitting at the piano stool of the Vancouver Hotel.

For this latter one I could not add that Buckley refused to pose for me when he saw my big camera and lights at the hotel’s piano bar. From my back pocket I pulled out one of his unusually bad novels Saving the Queen. That’s when he gave me that one shot and then he autographed the paperback which I must admit I treasure.
