Stuffit (Deluxe) from smith micro is archive /compression program. It can compress your file to a lot smaller size, and you will lose none of the quality of the original file. It can make life a lot easier when transporting files on USB memory sticks, memory card or emailing them. It is a good why of freeing up space on your hard drive. It will open all the common archive formats that are used by a lot of people and companies. I have been using it for about 2 months as my main archive/compression program and I have noticed that it will do as much if not a more that some of the other programs like it available. It has been able to open everything I have thrown at it. Stuffit has some nice tools built-in:

Compress + Email

Compress + email

Compress + FTP

Compress + FTP

Compress + Burn

Compress + Burn

The tools above you may use or not, I find the compress + burn is a great way to back up your photos and documents or send files to a client on a CD/DVD. The compress + ftp is a great if you have a server(home/internet) you can back up your files this way, if you are working for a client and the files are large this a great way for them to get the files and you don’t have to transfer a large files which may take a long time to transfer. The compress + email, I did not really use this one because I don’t send a lot by email, I use ftp because it’s a lot easier because some services or companies have a maximum email size.
Stuffit will select SITX (Stuffit) first, you can change it to any of the other 13 formats on the list. So remember to pick the right format before you start, pick it wisely.

SEA (Self Extracting Archive)

SEA Builder (Self extracting archive)

Droplet

Custom Droplets

The scheduler is a great if you are plan a very large archive you can set the scheduler to start compressing the file why you are on your lunch, in a meeting or you just won’t be at your computer waiting for it to finish, it’s a real time saver. OK my favourite tool out of them all is the convert tool, yes it does what it say convert, it great if you need to convert the archive that you worked on last week because the person you sent the original to cannot open it because they don’t have the software to open it. So instead of starting a new archive you just convert the one you have, and the SEA builder says it all no need to worry about people have trouble open it, just create it and that it done.
The custom droplets is a good tool to have you can make your own fully customized set of tools for your archive needs, so you could make two(2) different tools for compress + ftp, this is where you make it one of your tools not just something that you just use.
With Stuffit (Deluxe) you have no worry about file formats it will open 95% of the formats used on Windows, Mac, Linux.
Pros:
Open all major formats
Compress most major formats
Archives searchable
High compression without loss of quality (photos, video, audio)
Convertor

Cons:
Interface (a bit dated)
Message box (about new editions, and news)
