We are excited to launch Piazza in Microsoft Teams, allowing educators to augment Piazza’s discussion capabilities with Teams’ video functionality for live lectures and chat to better facilitate dynamic asynchronous learning.

The Piazza Q&A platform brings unique capabilities to Teams, rounding out a complete suite of education tools for instructors in a single environment. With more schools and universities supporting classes online in response to COVID-19, the coupling of Piazza and Teams adds streamlined workflows for educators, making their transition and ongoing delivery of virtual courses easier.

“Until now, there was no other app out there that provides forum functionality with Microsoft Teams. Piazza is a wonderful medium for people to share information. I am looking forward to using this for one of my online classes, so that students can post questions about individual homework problems. You can’t reasonably organize a conversation in an ordinary chat window, you need to have topics and threads, which Piazza does wonderfully.”
- Eric Edlund, Assistant Professor of Physics, SUNY Cortland

Save time and help students learn using the power of community
With the official launch of Piazza in Microsoft Teams, educators can now augment Piazza’s discussion capabilities with Teams’ video functionality for live lectures and chat feature for one-off communication, enabling interaction and engagement between students and instructors, and streamlining class communication while building community among your students.

  • Organize discussion by topics and threads to easily follow along on a given issue
  • Anonymous posting encourages every student, even the shyest, to participate
  • Instructors endorse student answers to keep the class on track
  • Wiki style format enables collaboration in a single space
  • Leverage Polls to take virtual attendance, conduct quizzes, or keep tabs on student comprehension.
  • Features a LaTeX editor, highlighted syntax and code blocking for technical subject matter
  • Built-in detailed learning analytics help track student engagement
  • Live Q&A allows instructors to instantly see where students are struggling so that they can adjust their lesson or lecture accordingly or follow up with supplemental material after class.

We’ve put together a step-by-step guide on adding a Piazza class to Teams here.
