Let’s talk about how and what initiated the PIBBLE project.
PIBBLE aims to create a transparent and fair image ecosystem. It basically means contents providers getting proper rewards for their work. Then a question arises. “Why image?” To answer this question I prepared this post!
Simply put, it’s due to “the size of the current market” and “possibility of growth.”
Image market is bigger than you think and is continuing its growth. It is due to smartphones that many of you might be using to read this very article right now!
Image market can generally be separated into two areas: a paid one and a free one. A paid image market is a stock image market which a lot of you guys might know about. It trades images that are taken by professionals or vector images that are made by designers. “Shutterstock” and “Getty Images” are two of the famous stock image markets.
Since stock image markets are generally used by professionals like marketing teams, not many are familiar with the concept. However, even though the market is only popular among professionals, the size of the market is as large as 2.4 billion dollars! This is all because marketing is virtually impossible without using images.
What we are going to focus is on “the possibility of growth.” Technavio, a global market research reporting team, predicts that the stock image market is going to reach about 32 billion dollar market worth until 2021, experiencing 8% of annual growth.
This is due to technologies based on communications like Internet churning out images every day along with video images. Resulting in growth in image market in general.
PIBBLE, however, doesn’t just focus on paid image market. The whole point of the project is to ensure content creators proper rights that they deserve. This is especially important in an age where the number of content creators is increasing thanks to smartphones and internet.
Let’s look at Instagram for example. Instagram is more of an image based SNS compared to Facebook. Recently, Instagram beat Facebook and became the most frequently used SNS today showing how much images have become a crucial tool of expressing one’s feelings.
PIBBLE not only acknowledges this but also realizes how crucial content providers are crucial to a platform like Instagram. PIBBLE thinks it is ridiculous that content creators aren’t getting proper recognition for uploading mesmerizing images. This is why PIBBLE aims to create a transparent image ecosystem through these two ways.
-Getting proper rewards for sharing, even if it’s not selling per se. (People uploading images on Instagram and Facebook is the reason why Facebook became a multimillion dollar company yet the content providers do not get paid.)
-Preventing illegal copies to protect the copyrights of contents using Blockchain.
To sum up, PIBBLE has decided to make an image ecosystem that ensures content providers get proper rewards for their work which cannot be found in stock image markets, Instagram, Facebook etc.
PIBBLE’s image ecosystem will not only reward content providers but also make sure users that share great images get proper rewards too.
