Animal Origins: The Guinea Pig
Did you know the original guinea pig was a potato?
Evolution is an amazing thing.
Take the guinea pig, for example.
Guinea pigs started off as potatoes.
That’s why the animals don’t like to be too far from the ground. They want to stay close to their roots.
Sure, they may have grown fur and lost a bunch of eyes.
But can’t you see the family resemblance every time you look at a potato? Or hold a guinea pig?
It’s like someone hit CTRL+C and then CTRL+V, but added the fuzzy filter in Photoshop before spitting out the new, improved sentient potato.
It’s uncanny.
I can’t tell the difference.
Can you tell the difference?
They’re so similar.
Like twins.
I love that we have domesticated potatoes as pets.
Because who doesn’t love potatoes? Twitchy little potatoes with feet.
Just please don’t feed guinea pigs potatoes. That’s basically turning them into cannibals. And guinea pigs’ little tummies can’t handle it. Plus, it’s just gross.
Be kind to the fuzzy potatoes. They deserve all the love they can get.
