Introducing: The Trail Of Time at Grand Canyon National Park
Geology doesn’t lie, our Earth is old
When we visited the Grand Canyon as part of a Southwest National Parks trip in the Fall of 2021, we were impressed by its beauty. We spent three days in the park, hiking and appreciating the sheer wonder of nature’s capacity.
As we explored the park, we came across flat brass markers on the rim trail stating the passage of time. Eventually, we found a kiosk that explained the markers.
The kiosk explained how by walking the rim trail, we were passing through time where one long step represented the passage of one million years!
It was hard to know where to look, out at the awe-inspiring vistas or down at the ground to see where we were on the geology timeline. Most the the time we spend gazing out over the canyon.
Colors of the rock change depending on the time of day, the amount of reflected light, and where you stand on the rim. But, it’s all…
