I mentioned a couple months ago that I am upgrading my undergraduate degrees in order to pursue post-grad studies. Something I discovered this time around, which I hadn’t even considered when I first entered University (a long time ago), was Rhetoric.

Anyone who knows me or has followed my writing here will be shocked to hear I hadn’t considered Rhetoric as an area of study, given how much I love to debate and endeavour to write persuasively.

Not only did I discover and fall in love with the study of rhetoric and communications, I was very fortunate to find an amazing professor right here at our local University (my alma mater).

Waxing philosophical

I also had no idea (forgive my ignorance) how much philosophy is embedded into rhetoric argument and theory. Where previously I had little interest in the great philosophers of the past, I now understand how and why their works are so important to current explorations and analyses of social and cultural phenomena.

If you’re interested in reading more about rhetoric, philosophy, culture wars, and contemporary communications theory, I have compiled a selection of related articles here for you to (hopefully) enjoy.
