On September 9th, 2023, the students of SJND got their boogie on at the Saturday Night Fever dance!

When you first entered the gymnasium on that fateful night, it was filled with shiny streamers and decorations all over the place and it just embodied the image of a 70’s dance. The entrance to the inner gym doors was beautifully decorated as a neon pink flower and the middle of the flower is where you walked through in order to get to the dance floor.

The gym has a partition in the middle of the basketball court, separating the games that they set up and the dance floor. On the side with the games, they had both a Nintendo Switch and a Playstation 4, where people played a variety of games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Minecraft, Brawlhalla, God of War, Mortal Kombat, etc. There were also corn hole games and Jenga on this side of the gym as well.

On the other side of the gym was the dance floor. People were having a good time dancing and jamming out to the many songs that played. Some of those songs were “One Dance” by Drake, “Love” by Keyshia Cole, “Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee, and “Dance the Night” by Dua Lipa. Many dance circles were created and many people were screaming with joy and excitement.

Jayla A. ’27 voiced, “It was different. I think that the decorations were amazing and I think CLT and ASB did an amazing job, but I do feel like it was kinda dry a bit, but it was still really fun.”

Morgan M. ‘27 commented, “It was really good, it was really good. I enjoyed myself.”

The first SJND dance was a smashing hit and had made lots of memories in people’s minds. If this was the first dance of the school year, I can only imagine what the next dance the SJND community will come up with next time.
