People know Father Kim as the new principal here at Saint Joseph Notre Dame (SJND), but did you know he’s the chaplain of the 49ers? Father Kim says, “The 49ers moved to Levi Stadium, which is in Santa Clara. That area belongs to the Diocese of San Jose in terms of the church and they needed a priest pretty fast. I liked football growing up. I was always a 49ers fan, so it was a cool thing to be.”

Father Kim says his favorite things about being the chaplain of the 49ers include being with the 49ers, being with high school 49ers fans, and having the opportunity to celebrate mass as the priest of the 49ers. He says he sometimes even gets to meet some of the players and coaches and get an insider perspective of what’s going on with the team.

Father Kim also has an interesting memorable moment that he experienced a couple of years ago: “The bishop in the area wanted to check out the game and we got special passes. We got to go down to the field and meet Jerry Rice and other players. I introduced him to the general manager John Lynch and we also got to go to the suite boxes and see the game up close but also from a bird’s eye view.”

In conclusion, Father Kim is not only a principal but also a devoted fan and chaplain for the San Francisco 49ers. He has met Hall of Famer Jerry Rice and other players, as well as executive John Lynch and even the bishop. Overall, I hope this article helped you get to know a little more about our principal Father Kim.
