Jazz Pop Rock Band at SJND

Did you ever wish to join a band, but you want to play multiple genres instead of just one? Well, look no further because Jazz Pop Rock is just the right club for you.
Jazz Pop Rock (JPR for short) used to be a club called Jazz Band. The club name changed due to a couple of reasons. First of all, there weren’t many members in the Jazz Band (there were only 4 last year), and the club only focused on jazz, aiming towards a rather small group instead of a larger group of people.
The club president, Momo Okubo, says, “With only a few music-related clubs, there would be fewer genres for people to show interest in. Now that JPR includes two new genres, pop, and rock, the club can represent a more extensive music community.” JPR plans to do more performances throughout the school year so that students can see the music community and show the school what they truly are passionate about.
What does JPR Club offer that other clubs don’t, though? Well, JPR gives every member “lots of solo opportunities,” according to Momo and Vice President, Declan McFarland. This is a good way for the members to express themselves and gives them motivation to continue performing as a musician. This club has most definitely helped me, not only as a musician, and I’ve made new friends along the way. I personally think it’s really fun and I’m glad I joined it.
I would definitely recommend this club to any musician even if they are only an advanced beginner. Momo says, “If you are looking into a music major in college, I feel that our club would really benefit you and help you be more creative while still being able to play a written piece of music.”
It’s always a fun environment to be in, and I think it will boost your enjoyment of playing your instrument since the club helps you master your playing skills. All in all, this club is good for all kinds of people and their interests, and I would highly recommend checking it out.
