Every one of us students has a story. But have you ever wondered about our teachers’ stories? In this article, I will dive into the story of Ms. Finnessy, our science teacher.

Something that you might not know about Ms. Finnessy is that she was born in Chicago but raised in Indiana. In Indiana, people love to stay active and hard-working. I think these characteristics of people from Idaho show in her daily life but also in her hobbies. Ms. Finnessy loves to hike and swim. When I brought up places to hike in the interview, she said “Right now I’ve been doing a lot in Marin but there are a lot of good ones in Oakland. I like Joaquin Miller.”

In school, we know Ms. Finnessy as a hard-working, nice teacher but did you know that she is still finishing grad school? It is a mystery as to how she is managing all of her work plus handling us students. Right now she is finishing up her education at the University of Notre Dame.

Ms. Finnessy started just like all of us. But in her first time taking AP Biology, she knew what she wanted to do. In her school, they have a program where they send their students out to schools that need help. Ms. Finnessy says, “I did not get to pick. In grad school they sent us to Catholic schools that needed teachers and I am glad I was sent here.” When asked about what she thought about our school, she said, “I like that I teach a lot of different classes so I am not teaching the same thing all day.”

I think that all of the students at SJND can agree that Ms. Finnessy is a great teacher. Coach G says she is “very nice, very caring, very reliable, good sense of humor and very funny, [and] will also laugh at a joke when it is not funny.”

In the end all of the students here at SJND love Ms. Finnessy and hope to never see her go.
