Our SJND’s girls’ JV volleyball team just made their game against Bentley High their 10th win in a row giving them a 10–0 streak. They’ve had an exciting season so far with a fun-loving journey leading up to their 10th win.

The JV girls first started playing together in the second week of school on August 18th. Despite having little time playing together before their first game after only 2 practices, they pulled out a win against their first competition, Convent High School.

After their first victory, it was smooth sailing for their next 2 games with easy wins against San Rafael and Oakland High until they played their fourth game against one of their most competitive rivals, Alameda High. In the end, they pulled through ending the nailbiter of a game in their third set 16–14. “When we won that last set 16–14, oh my gosh that was an unforgettable moment,” Anabelle Holmes (JV girls volleyball starter) exclaimed. Since then, JV knocked out their next 6 games in only 2 sets, getting a strong lead each time.

Only halfway through the season and not even a month since their first game, the girls have shown lots of progress in both developing their skills and creating their team chemistry. “Everyone just gets along and really understands each other,” Anabelle Holmes said.

The odds for achieving an undefeated season for our JV girls look good considering most of their future games are against teams that they have easily beaten, but you never know and we should not jinx it. Stay updated with the JV team as they finish their last half of the season hopefully keeping their streak strong.
