9th graders on Halloween.

On October 31st, 2023, a lot of SJND students dressed up, and SJND had many Halloween-related activities for spirit points. Here is an overview of the games that took place at lunch on Halloween.

During lunch, the first activity was the freshmen flash mob dance. The 9th grade song was ‘‘Ghostbusters.” Freshmen got last place in the dance contest. When asked about how well she thought the dance went, 9th grader Hawah H. responded, “I think it could have gone better, like it wasn’t well organized and it was very last minute but I still think we did okay.’’

The sophomore flash mob dance was right after the freshmen. There were more sophomores than freshmen that participated and, unlike the freshmen who got last, sophomores placed third.

The next activity was to dress up the mummy. How it worked was you would have four people dress up one of your teammates with toilet paper to look like a mummy. When asked about how well he thought the 9th graders’ strategy was, Layne O. ’27 responded, “Overall, I thought the strategy worked well. However, it was difficult to recover when your roll of toilet paper ripped and you had to reset.”

After the dress up the mummy was a Halloween costume contest. Anyone could line up and the amount of applause or noise for each costume was how they determined who won. Even though there were a lot of costumes, the Lagoon Monster won.

Right after the Halloween costume contest was the homemade costume contest. The costume had to be handmade. Salvador N. ‘27 won with his costume wearing Freddy Fazbear.

The juniors and then the seniors went to do their flash mob after the homemade Halloween costume. While it was a tough decision between the juniors and seniors, ultimately they both tied.

The Halloween activities were super fun, and I’m glad I got to participate in the freshmen flash mob. It looked like the students enjoyed them too. I can’t wait for next year to see what more Halloween activities there are.
