The Alternative Music Club was created by Anneka Meier and Larkin Mickus (SJND ‘27). This year was the 9th graders’ first year experiencing what is known as Club Rush at SJND. Anneka Meier and Larkin Mickus were the only freshmen to create a new club and so far it has been a great success.

Currently there are 37 members that joined the AMC club, and the club has even made their own Discord server. Out of the 7 clubs I joined this year, I can say with confidence that the AMC group chat is the most active.

I interviewed one of the creators of the club, Anneka, and she said, “We came up with it (AMC) because we both love music and it’s a big part of our lives and we wanted to find and share our love of music and our music taste with others!”

Honestly, I haven’t met many people with similar music tastes as me but I’m so glad Anneka and Lark decided to make this club to share music and widen mine and others’ spectrum of music. Recently, they had their first meeting during flex period and it went great.

Before the meeting, they sent out a Google Form for the members to fill out for them to make a playlist so we can all enjoy it during the meetings. So far this club is extremely successful!
