In 2016, the Pine Biotech team completed a commercial project assisting the Acorda Therapeutics research team with analysis of Phase 0 clinical trial data. Pine was chosen as the winner of the 2016 Pistoia Alliance President’s Startup Challenge, providing a cash prize of $20,000, access to Thomson Reuters data resources, and mentorship from big Pharma companies like Astra Zeneca, Merck, and others. The company also completed the Propeller Accelerator Health Sector and joined the Idea Village CAPITALx program starting in 2017.

Presenting their bioinformatics platform as an educational solution to academia, the team received support from researchers at LSU, Tulane, Xavier, UNO, Haifa University and Duke to collaborate on launching hands-on education workshops in 2017. Pine is also now in the process of finalizing strategic collaborations with researchers at Tulane Medical School and LSU Health School of Medicine to launch a number of validation studies in the coming months.
