In March, we are finally releasing the first commercial versions of the educational and academic versions of our T-Bio platform. This will be a major achievement for both the Pine Bio team and the Tauber Bioinformatics Research Center in Haifa, Israel that have been working together on a curriculum and a user-friendly platform that allows easy access to complex bioinformatics tools for non-bioinformaticians.

Starting this week, first users will have access to our preliminary coursework, the Introduction to Bioinformatics (http://edu.t-bio.info/courses/introduction-to-big-data-bioinformatics/) and Transcriptomics (http://edu.t-bio.info/courses/transcriptomics/). These preliminary courses have been prepared based on several workshops our team conducted for various levels of students — one of these workshops we covered in a recent blog post: http://pine-biotech.com/workshop-roundtable-discussion-tulane-pine-biotech/

2016 workshop at Tulane University for faculty and students

These workshops helped identify the right topics for various levels of users. We hope that the first users on the website will continue to provide us with feedback so that we can make the online experience better.

After these courses are finalized and the T-Bio platform is released for our first adopters, we will continue working with our research collaborators to prepare projects that are divided into digestable sections for non-experts to start “getting their hands dirty”. At the moment, we are finalizing 2 projects that will be ready by March: Tumor-stroma interaction in PDX models and a Cell-line based modeling of precision medicine. The projects will be integrated into the learning experience. To preview, you can look here: http://edu.t-bio.info/projects/

Education is an important part of adopting the latest technology and making it usable for a general user. We hope that our courses will help bring out the important issues around bioinformatics approaches and applications and will help accelerate the pace of research.
