US Ignite recently selected the city of Red Wing to join their US Ignite Smart Gigabit Communities. This will give local nonprofit Red Wing Ignite access to national resources for building applications around education, workforce development, public safety, community health, smart energy, and transportation.

Over the past several years, Red Wing Ignite has been steadily building a startup and technology innovation center near the city hall downtown. Starting as a blue ribbon initiative for the city of Red Wing in 2013, executive director Neela Mollgard and staff have been busy planning technology focused events, hackathons, and educational programs to teach children how to program.

To celebrate the success of being selected to the SGC program, Red Wing Ignite will be hosting a launch event to showcase what it means to be a Smart Gigabit Community and how the entire state of Minnesota can benefit. This joint effort between US Ignite and Red Wing Ignite is called Ignite Minnesota.

The launch event is happening on Tuesday, February 27th at 4pm at Red Wing Ignite and is free to anyone.

Please RSVP to attend
