Let Regret Make You Better Not Bitter
How regret can transform you into an improved version of yourself
I spotted this company stock at such a low price and didn’t buy it. Today, look at how its price has risen… If only, if only…” said a fellow investor friend.
My quick response to his lament was, “There will always be regrets.”
His next words startled me as they gave a whole new spin to the concept of regrets, and a positive one at that. He said —
“Regrets only mean you’re still in the game. Getting out on ducks means you’re still playing!”
Indeed, an optimistic way of looking at regrets.
Because it’s so easy to wallow in regret… To keep thinking of the multiple times we “should’ve” or “could’ve” done something… Our lives are made up of multiple such moments…
If only… I had not given up on someone/something.
If only… I had said/not said something
If only… I hadn’t wasted time and done it earlier.
If only… I could turn the clock back.
