Friend: The positive in life is so minimal…. The ratio of positive to negative — in terms of duration and intensity — is like 20:80…hardly worth speaking about.
Me: But you know Pareto’s law, right? 20 percent can account for 80 percent of your well-being.

My friend was probably going through a negative frame of mind, and unable to come out of it… It’s common for people to get stuck in that mode… To say, ‘my life isn’t working’ or ‘life sucks’ or some such.

This negative chatter can continue inside people’s heads for so long, that it eventually kills everything positive in their lives too.

I, on the contrary, am an eternal optimist... I almost never let the downside keep me down for too long. The positive and practical side in me always resurfaces quickly, and shows me a new perspective. Being hopeful rather than dejected is at the core of my DNA…

My simple theory is — It’s not over till it’s over!

It’s only the grand finale, or death, that can take it all away, and at that point nothing will matter anyway.

Like you read earlier, in my chat with my friend, it didn’t take me long to flip the ratio. Because if, like Pareto’s law, you focus more on the positive than the negative, you will…
