The Diary of a City Monk
There are two different worlds — one outside the gate and one inside.
I’m at a yoga course in the heart of Mumbai, India… The place is going to be my residence for the next 80 odd days. But, life in the ashram-like university is unlike the regular hustle and bustle of city life…
The natural environs, vegetarian spice-free sattvic food and lectures filled with a positive approach to life, are a huge disconnect from the life that once was — filled with stimulation, constant activity, negative news et al.
It’s a challenge to straddle the two worlds, or let go of all that was to accommodate all that is. To unlearn what was learned, and develop a new framework of thinking.
But, that’s what the yogic path is about, constantly unlearning and relearning, stripping away all that you are (or were) to become a nobody — existing and responding to life as is.
My journey ahead is going to be a unique one, and I don’t know what it will unfold…
Perhaps, I’ll let go of old concepts and understand new ones…perhaps I’ll retain the ones that worked and strengthen them with better application.
Either way, it’s going to be an enlightening experience — A discovery of the self as it transforms from who it was to who it’s going to be, an ever-changing entity.
This then is the essence of Pink Pinjra, the ability to step out of your cage every now and then, experience new worlds, and make sure you continue to fly high in new skies.
Pink Pinjra is about expression… For me, writing, and in the recent past, yoga, have been my mediums of expression. As I merge these two aspects and patiently wait to see the end product, I invite you to a glimpse of my journey…
The next two–three months are going to be engaging, invigorating and even exhausting, but I have committed to archiving them on Pink Pinjra, and sharing my insight with you, dear readers.
For those of you who would like to gain some second-hand wisdom, do follow me on Pink Pinjra for more. I promise to write as often as I can… But, if you don’t hear anything from me, know that I am either in deep contemplation, or my body aches too much :)
Till tomorrow then… Namaste!
If you liked the blog, do applaud, share, and follow Pink Pinjra for more!
