We were in the classical camel pose, or ustrasana, as it’s called in yoga. My yoga teacher said, ‘In this pose, you think your vertebrae are contracting, but they are actually expanding… Only if your vertebrae open up, will you feel supported… If they were shrinking, you would have collapsed.’

I couldn’t help compare this to trust, and how it impacts our lives similarly.

As our trust muscle expands, and allows for people and situations to unfold — without fearing what they bring — our lives get supported… The minute trust shrinks, your life (read - spirit), also collapses in a big way.

Trust is the spinal cord of your life, holding it together, keeping you hopeful, seeing you through adversities, that could otherwise knock you down!

This trust could be in anything — a divine force, your family, career, friends, or a passion that sustains you and keeps your spirits lifted… This trust could also be in yourself, and your ability to rise above any of life’s downs!

Of late, I’ve immersed myself deeper and deeper in the practice of yoga. It’s something I enjoy…not just because I’m…
