In partnership with the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Pink Box Stories presents The Donut Kids of California, a narrative photo series highlighting the stories of children of independently-owned Cambodian donut shop owners who grew up in and around donut shops.

These stories are more than a snippet of their — and for some of us, our — lives. They are stories of growing and running a small business, intergenerational support, social mobility, and the unique contributions of the Cambodian-American community to California’s economic fabric.

Read the reflections of these eight donut kids on the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s website.
