The amount of new hackathons in recent times has brought an incredibly diverse group of individuals to the hacker community. This recent influx of new events has inspired countless students to pursue careers in STEM and has helped expose talent to corporate partners in the industry.

Hackathons are now more accessible than ever before, and the span of these events has grown beyond our wildest dreams. We believe that it’s time to harness this reach to create a new generation of competitive spirit among student hackers.

Today, we’re announcing a new kind of hackathon: Pinnacle.

What is Pinnacle?

We’re inviting the world’s top 50 largest collegiate hackathons to compete in an epic tournament-styled event. Think of Pinnacle as the “Olympics of hackathons”, where each hackathon is analogous to a “country” that will compete in the tournament.

We’ll be flying out 200 of the world’s top hackers, representing the top 50 largest collegiate and top 5 high school hackathons for a legendary hack-off at the heart of innovation: San Francisco.

How can I participate?

Each of the participating hackathons will select a team of 4 individuals — normally the 1st place winners — to represent them at Pinnacle. If invited members are unable to attend, we will extend our invitation to the 2nd and 3rd place winners.

We are excited to announce our first 3 partners, MHacks, HackHarvard and Hacktech. You will be able to see more partners as we add them to our website over the next few months.

Don’t see your favorite hackathon there? Reach out and let them know about Pinnacle — we’d love to consider them as a partner event! If you’re a hackathon organizer and would like your event to participate at Pinnacle, reach out to us.

Interested in sponsoring Pinnacle?

Pinnacle is like a recruitment fair where the selection process is already done for you. Think of it as a career fair without having to sift through thousands of resumes — we do the filtering and bring the world’s top talent to you.

Unlike a traditional hackathon, we are inviting students who have proven their coding ability and creativity. At Pinnacle, you will recruit not only some of the best programmers, but also the most innovative and collaborative minds in the world. If you’re interested, let us know at sponsor@pinnacle.us.org.

Who’s putting this together?

The Pinnacle team is a group of ardent hackathon organizers, attendees, mentors, and sponsors who have collectively organized over 50 hackathons. But our teams’ specialties span from computer science to design to economics and our team ranges from students at Duke or UC Berkeley to software engineers. Anyone with a passion for the hackathon community is welcome to join. If you are interested, apply to join our team on our website.
