Join us in finding out a bit more about Aimee, the food blogger behind Wallflower Kitchen. Hear about her new cookbook, her tips for success on Pinterest and her answer to Hayley Hall’s question from our last Pinterview.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your blog/career?

I’m Aimee — the food blogger behind WallflowerKitchen.com, based in my little kitchen in Brighton. I started food blogging for fun about 6 years ago and have since turned it into a career, working as a recipe developer for brands.

What moment are you most proud of?

Getting a book deal! It has been my dream for so long to have a cookbook published and I’m so happy and proud that it is finally happening. My cookbook ‘Great British Vegan’ will be out in time for Veganuary 2021, so stay tuned.

Do you have any WFH/self-isolation tips that might help others?

I work from home a lot anyway and there are definitely things that help me but I often don’t follow my own advice! Those things are routine, taking regular breaks (going for a walk if you can) and listening to some calming classical music, which lifts your mood and can help you focus on work too.

Where do you get your inspiration?

My favourite way to get recipe inspiration is to lie on the sofa looking through cookbooks. But once I have an idea of what I want to create, I usually create a secret Pinterest board and save some food photos to that. It can be recipe ideas or just because I like the way the photo is styled, the colours used etc.

When did you start to see success on your Pinterest profile?

Quite early on. I’ve been using Pinterest for about 8 years now, so I have the advantage of being active on it for a long time.

What impact does Pinterest have on your business?

A very positive impact! It’s definitely one of my biggest traffic sources and a great way to share my recipes with the world and discover more inspiration.

What’s your top tip for success on Pinterest?

When promoting your own content, find out which Pins are already doing well and boost them even more. Instead of trying to make all your content go further, I like to focus on what already has the best chance of getting lots of re-pins and clicks.

Who are your favourite Pinterest Creators to follow?

One of the first people I ever discovered and followed on Pinterest was Twiggstudios. Her photos are so beautiful and always inspired me. I also love Rebel recipes — she always posts pictures of food I want to eat. Veganmiam was one of the key influences in my decision to try a vegan lifestyle.

What’s your favourite Pin ever?

This is perhaps my most popular pin. I was living in a tiny studio flat at the time and took this photo outside in my communal staircase, as it was the only place I could find with enough space and light for this recipe shot. One of my favourite recipes too!

Do you have a question that you would like to ask a fellow Pinterest creator?
