Our next Pinterview is with the amazing Nagi Maehashi, the food blogger behind ‘Recipe Tin Eats’. She told us all about her career journey, her favourite recipes and creators of the moment. Keep reading to find out her answer to Ghenet Randall’s question from our last Pinterview.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your career?

I am the creator of Recipe Tin Eats which is a food blog based in Sydney, Australia. I create recipes, photograph them, make tutorial videos and write them up to share on my website!

What career moment are you most proud of?

The moment at which I realised that “just a food blog” could become a full-time business, and when I was able to start hiring a team (albeit small!).

Where do you find your inspiration?

Everywhere! Mostly from eating at restaurants, travels and amazing food friends make at gatherings.

When did you start to see success on your Pinterest profile?

Actually, I was very lucky in the early days because some “power pinners” picked up some of my early work which made them go viral on Pinterest. In 2015, about a year after I started Pinterest.

What impact does Pinterest have on your business?

Yes of course! It is a source of traffic for me, but more importantly, it is a platform that enables my readers to save and organise recipes they love!

What’s the one thing about Pinterest that you think all Creators should know?

View it as a platform that enhances your readers’ experience — creating visual virtual cookbooks. Rather than just thinking about yourself and the traffic Pinterest can send your way. Put your readers above yourself! Make it easy for them to save your content to Pinterest!

What’s your top tip for success on Pinterest?

Bright, colourful photos, close up. They stand out more!

Do you have a favourite recipe of the moment?

I’m mad for Indian curries at the moment! Eggplant curry is on heavy rotation!

Who are your favourite Pinterest Creators to follow at the moment?

On Pinterest, I really like to browse for photography styling and lighting ideas. I like Noel Barnhurst, Rachel Korinek and Bakers Royale.

What meal sums up happiness?

A big juicy roast, duck fat potatoes, a giant leafy salad and a butterscotch pudding to finish!

Do you have a question that you would like to ask our next Pinterest creator in the series?

What’s the last thing you used Pinterest for, rather than routine work-related things? For me personally, I used it for ideas to design my new fireplace! It was soooo handy!
