Last month we took the Pinterest Presents event series online with Pinterest Presents: Create to Inspire. If you missed out this time, then today is your lucky day. We will be posting recordings of all of the sessions here on the blog so you can watch them whenever you like.

We’re kicking off with Pinterest 101 + What’s new @ Pinterest with Pinterest Canada’s Creator Manager, Alex Nikolajev. This is perfect for you if you’re just getting started with your business account on Pinterest, need a refresher, or just want to find out more about the platform.

Watch the session here.

Key takeaways:

Pinterest 101

Pinterest aims to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love. Each month 400 million people come to Pinterest to figure out what to do or buy next. Pinners want to connect with creators who inspire, inform and encourage them to try new things.

First things first if you haven’t already, create a free business account. This will allow you to:

  • Claim your site and socials, this ensures that your profile picture appears next to any Pins that come from your claimed accounts giving you the attribution you deserve on your content.
  • Access analytics, with Pinterest Analytics, you can see which Pins people like, what they save from your other channels, learn more about what your audience wants and alter your Pinterest strategy accordingly.
  • Find out how to get featured on Pinterest’s newest editorial space the Today tab.

What’s new @ Pinterest

  • Skintone Ranges: Pinterest’s latest inclusive beauty feature. Inspiration begins with inclusion. That’s why Pinterest is introducing new beauty experiences like skin tone ranges. So you can see yourself with more accurate search results — ones that look and feel like you.
  • Pinterest trends: A self-serve tool for any business or creator to plan
a Pinterest first strategy by exploring the top trending terms on Pinterest.
  • Business hub- we have built a unique landing experience for businesses and creators that will guide you to success on Pinterest. It will help you optimise your profile, create engaging content, promote content effectively, and understand the performance of your organic content and ads.
  • Engagement tab- is a hub where you can see all of the likes, comments and tries all in one place. This means that you can easily engage with your audience and quickly reply to the Pinners that are interacting with your content.
  • Pinterest Academy- is a series of fun, smart online courses that you can access from anywhere on any device. Go through them at your own pace, learning how to connect with your audience on Pinterest. You’ll get information on how to design Pins, inspire visual discovery and incorporate Pinterest best practices.

Keep your eyes peeled for more sessions from the event coming soon:

  • Fireside chat with Polly Crawley from Jo Malone
  • Your Roadmap to Creating a Killer Pinterest Strategy
  • Fireside chat with Kaya Tomash from Comfy Girl with Curls
