Pinterest is where people go to discover, dream and do. More than 300 million people depend on Pinterest for new ideas, and they want to hear from you.

Want to get your best Pins in front of a wider audience? Here is your chance!

Each month, Pinterest’s Editorial team feature a selection of the best Pinterest content in editorial spaces in Pinterest’s home feed, including Today tab and Spotlight.

As high-quality creators, we want to make sure you have the best opportunity to reach a larger audience on Pinterest.

Every two months, Pinterest share upcoming editorial themes and trends (right here on Medium), so you know what we’ve got in store for the following months. From what Pinner’s are searching for, to upcoming trends and seasonal moments.

Pick out themes that fit your passions, brand or products and create new Pins and boards. Submit them for consideration via the submission form before the deadline.

To high-quality curate content, follow these best practice tips:

Boards

  • Create a new board! Note — occasionally, we will accept existing boards with fresh content recently added.
  • Be specific and relevant to one or more of the editorial themes.
  • Put your spin on it and cover an emerging or existing trend uniquely.
  • Use high-quality images that are visually appealing.
  • Mix it up; don’t just stick to static Pins, curate a mix with Video Pins.
  • If you are curating a shoppable board (including in-stock items you can buy) — think about a mix of products, lifestyle and model imagery.
  • Have a helpful board description, Pinterest is a search engine; your board descriptions will help Pinners find your boards.
  • Be authentic, true to yourself and your brand.
  • Consider having a mix of your content plus others that fit with your brand. But be local, try to Pin content that is local to Pinners in the UK.
  • 40+ Pins! The more Pins, the better journey for the Pinner and more prolonged engagement with your content.

Pins

  • Rich Pins (learn more here)
  • Most of our formats are vertical, use vertical images to allow your Pins more space to be discovered.
  • We recommend that you use a 2:3 aspect ratio for all of your Pins. (learn more here)
  • Use helpful and personal descriptions. Give people all the information they need to bring inspiration to life.
  • Make sure Pins link through to a valid website.
  • You may use affiliate links which meet our policies.

Video Pins

  • Video Pins (learn more here)
  • Recommendations for standard video are 1:1 (square) or 2:3, 4:5 or 9:16 (vertical)
  • Video Pins autoplay without audio, use text overlay or captions to convey the message to ensure you get across the whole story.
  • Lead with a clear hook within the first few seconds to capture Pinner’s attention as they are in a planning mindset.
  • Keep your video message simple and to the point. 6–20 seconds is our sweet spot to get the idea across to Pinners quickly.

When submitting your content:

Do:

  • Keep an eye on the Today tab, Spotlight and Pinterest to get an idea of the kind of content we feature.
  • Think like a Pinner, would you engage with this content? Make sure your content is relevant, helpful and inspiring.
  • Be authentic — only submit boards that you are genuinely passionate about, and which reflect your style.

Don’t:

  • Add Pins to an existing board that isn’t relevant to try and fit it to a theme, as it’s less likely to feel unique.
  • Submit boards with generic board titles such as ‘Food’ or ‘Fashion’, the more specific and unique your board the better.
  • Submit boards for every single theme. It’s more valuable to share one fantastic board for an idea that best represents you — think quality over quantity.

Examples of beautiful Pins and boards:

We try to feature as many of your submissions as we can, but please note we are not always able to use all content submitted. The best way to tell if you are featured is to make sure you’ve got a Pinterest business account so that you can keep an eye on your analytics. You can upgrade your existing account to use business features, or sign up for a new account.

We can’t wait to see what you create!
