With India being one of our fastest growing markets in the world, we are constantly looking for ways to make our platform more accessible for users in the country.

In 2014, we launched support for our first Indian language, Hindi, on our platform. Today, we’re excited to add 2 more Indian languages, Bengali & Telugu, as part of our expanding efforts in India.

“We are seeing great momentum in India, and are so excited to launch in additional languages. Our mission is to bring everyone the inspiration to create a life they love, and we hope that Bengali and Telugu speakers will be able to do just that as they discover new ideas and inspirations on Pinterest.”

— Ayumi Nakajima, Head of Pinterest APAC

With more than 97 million and 81 million speakers, Bengali and Telugu are two of the most widely spoken languages in India (source). Moreover, internet adoption levels of these languages continue to grow across the region, surpassing English (source).

Users can access Pinterest in Bengali & Telugu on web and mobile web versions of the platform by choosing the language under settings. As for the app on Android and iOS phones, users will need to change the language settings in their mobile device. From the signup page to searching for content, users can expect the experience to be the same as when using the English version.

Switch over to the Bengali interface on Pinterest by going to “Settings” and then “Account Settings”

We’re thrilled to have launched many initiatives in India over the past year to drive growth in the region. In April, we launched the Today Tab, where we shined a spotlight on Indian creators and trending topics in India. And in case you missed it, read up on how we inspired Diwali celebrations this year by collaborating with celebrities like Sanjeev Kapoor & Twinkle Khanna, Indian brands and artists!
