Next time you think you’ve tried everything when applying for data science jobs, just remember, I once worked with someone who got their job through, wait for it… a parody rap. And while the candidate doesn’t aspire to collab with Eminem or Childish Gambino anytime soon, the production resulted in securing the performer/job candidate a coveted internship at The Tonight Show, being selected out of 10,000+ applicants.

Recognizing that he lacked the industry experience (or elite contacts) needed to penetrate the famously cutthroat world of entertainment production, the applicant, Jake, embarked on an ambitious project. He would recreate, shot-for-shot, Blackalicious’ “Alphabet Aerobics.”

This wasn’t a random selection, as Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe performed the song on the show in 2014.

Of course, there was a twist. Jake rewrote lyrics to make them relevant to the show’s staff, whose work he admired.

But while he waited for the customary interview request, Jake got a response he didn’t anticipate; host…
