The Pirate Crew Spotlight
To all those living under a rock in our discord, we take great pride in our growing community of Boatswain. Our Boatswains assist with the community, answers questions, welcomes newcomers, and offers feedback to the team.
We have 8 members to date, and remain incredibly selective on whom we bestow such an honorary role. After all, being a Boatswain comes with some serious perks!
For one, Boatswains have their own channel and therefore greater access to our team. They’re always first to receive alpha; whether it be new art, lore, partnerships, or improvements being made to the Pirate Kings ecosystem. This will continue post launch, where Boatswains will be the first community members to test out new features.
We respect dedication and hard work and believe in rewarding commitment. And while expectations to become a Boatswain remain high, the position is available to anyone willing to go above and beyond for our community.
We believe one such Boatswain, “old azzburger#9763,” stands out above the rest! I’ll continue to address him as Kevin, as that’s how we’ve come to know him. Kevin was our third promotion back in mid-January. That’s right — over the course of 2 months, we’ve only given five pirates the coveted title of boatswain.
Alas…Kevin: we bestow upon you, the role of Navigator! Let it be known across the Seven Seas that this Boatswain is appreciated by the Pirate Kings team.
Why Kevin?
- Kevin fits the script for our entire rules regarding our Pirate Crew
- Kevin offers sincere and frequent feedback. Just the other day our chat needed to be a bit more lively, so Kevin hopped in our private Boatswain community and rallied the troops to engage with our scallywags.
- Kevin offers frequent suggestions that he is happy to spearhead: cooking days, community movie nights, and more
- Kevin engages live with myself during Twitter spaces and our discord live AMAs. We need members to ask hard questions, and Kevin certainly does not disappoint with his questions.
Henceforth, mateys, Kevin will be assisting in the process of bringing on new Boatswain, and demoting current Boatswain. We are currently discussing the implementation of a voting system, whereby Boatswain members can decide who is worthy of such a prestigious title, and who stays and who goes.
After all, real Boatswains who failed to live up to expectations were often left stranded at port. Therefore, we think it’s entirely “on-brand” to allow the entire Boatswain community to decide which members they feel best foster a positive, happy, and thriving ship community!
