Pirate Chain December Update

It’s time again for a short review!

What has happened on “our” ship lately? Pirate sails on and the community grows. Our pirates are international, online around the clock and hard-working. Whether developers, artists, writers or ambassadors, all of them have worked together on the following things in the last few days:

Sapling integration

After the construction and maiden voyage of Piratechain, Sapling is probably the most important event in the young history of Pirate.

Sapling will significantly increase the speed of transactions.

Sapling was made possible by the developers of Zcash. With Sapling integration, Z transactions can now be performed in seconds. As an assetchain of the Komodo ecosystem, the big Sapling update has also been rolled out for Pirate. This was made possible by the developers of Komodo who worked on it day and night.

The advantages of Sapling

For exchanges, pools and private persons, z-transactions have so far been subject to heavy burdens. With Sapling, there will now be less computing power. With less resource processing, the network will be more efficient and the block size capacity will be increased from 2MB to 4MB.

Sapling upgrades will also facilitate the implementation of zSPV (Z Simple Payment Validation). This will enable the implementation of Mobile Wallet Apps and Point of Sale options.

Important informations about the next network upgrade:

  • Sapling activation on December 15, 2018
  • Deactivation of the Sprout addresses as of 15 February 2019
  • Increase block size from 2MB to 4MB
  • TX size increase from 100kb to 200kb
  • Z-Transactions in a few seconds
  • Low resource consumption

From Sprout to Sapling Addresses

However, all owners of ARRR still need to become active by 15.02.2018. Everyone must migrate their ARRR from their sprout address to a newly generated sapling address.

zMigrate dApp

In a few days the developers will release the zMigrate dApp. A GUI that will make migration easier for all users.

If you can’t wait and are familiar with the CLI commands, you can also migrate manually. Help can be found in the Discord Channel. Here a separate “z-migrate-help” category was created, in which JL777 is also very active and helps.
