The Co-Founder/CEO of Pitchspot, Goh See Ting, capitalised on the rising popularity of entrepreneurship in Singapore to set up Pitchspot — the global launchpad for ideas.
Pitchspot is an ideas management platform with machine learning and data analytics, designed for budding entrepreneurs and innovators alike. We provide the necessary resources and innovation analytics tools for our users to further their ideas.
The 26 year-old Co-Founder said: “SMEs often are not able to operate for a long time, which is why the startup period is key; Pitchspot uses advanced data analysis technology to enable these companies to have a better grasp on knowledge of the market, and have a clearer and more thorough understanding of potential problems.”
As an interactive network startup company, Pitchspot also provides users with a Gain-Inertia-Pain Canvas for products or businesses. The concept of “Gains to Pains” was first proposed by Jack D. Schwager, a US financial industry wizard, who calculated the total number of returns per month for the period, divided by the total number of returns for the month of the money. Get the net rate of return in the portfolio and the downside that the company is suffering.
Since the inception of the Pitchspot Toolkit in February this year, Pitchspot has on-boarded more than 700 users. Although Pitchspot’s software is still in development, the response from users has been promising and positive. See Ting said: “There are users who have told me that they like the estimate of the ‘Gain-Pain Ratio’ very much, because it can quickly and effectively allow a startup or a Small and Medium-sized Enterprise (SME) know whether an idea/project has market value and where it needs to be.”
Team Pitchspot found that there are many talented young people locally most of whom are worried about failing thus resulting in a lack of an entrepreneurial spirit. He observed that these youth have many innovative ideas that have potential for development. He then set up Pitchspot with his co-founders, in hopes of building a safe haven for entrepreneurs to find like-minded people, resources, and the perspectives and directions to kick start their ideas.
As an undergraduate, See Ting travelled to Silicon Valley, California, USA for a one-year NUS Overseas Colleges Programme and Internship. The experience changed his perspective of innovation and entrepreneurship when he witnessed the vibrant and throbbing startup scene in the Valley. He witnessed not only people developing their ideas into actual startups, but also visited many successful companies such as Google, which inspired him to dedicate the next five years to work on something that he was truly passionate about, and change the innovation culture around the world for the better.
This experience inspired the fresh graduate from the Engineering Science Programme (specialising in Computational Engineering) at the National University of Singapore, to ditch the conventional route of becoming a “wage earner”.
At present, Team Pitchspot is actively participating in local and regional science and technology conferences, events, and innovation challenges, and actively encouraging young people to start their own businesses and fulfill their dreams.
Pitchspot is the global launchpad for ideas. We aim to build a more innovative world by providing budding entrepreneurs with innovation analytics tools and resources to further their ideas.
