Hi there! This is Team Pitchspot signing in for Pitchspot Tech Digest.

Pitchspot Tech Digest is a 3–5min read about Team Pitchspot’s product development journey and how we can serve our users better. Thank you for dropping by!

In this read, we will be sharing more about the product that keeps ideas alive — The Pitchspot Toolkit, and the development stage that we are currently at.

Following our Agile Medium Post, we have since launched the beta version of the Pitchspot Toolkit (Jun 2018) — a smart canvas to assess your ideas holistically, using data analytics from the internet and various Machine Learning (ML) techniques. The key objective of the Pitchspot Toolkit is to deploy deep tech to serve the startup community at the ideation stage.

The competitor update function keeps users up-to-date on the latest news and articles on any given search term

Those who have tried our product would have noticed that we have released a competitor update — a news crawler for our early users to test out. The response from our users has been promising and positive, with an average of 45 users coming in to use the Toolkit daily. The deployment of the ML and deep tech stuff are currently in the works as well, so be sure to look out for that in our future updates!

So what’s next? What’s the deal about Pitchspot Toolkit?

We have 3 product development phases:

The Chassis: A Webapp User Interface

The Engine: Data Analytics and Machine Learning

The Fuel: The Global Entrepreneur Community

Stage One — The Chassis: A Webapp User Interface

We want to create the nice looking product that everyone loves. Aside from aesthetics, we want to ensure that all the components are present as expected. For example, the trashcan icon must be at the right of the canvas, the task bar at the side of the page yada yada yada.. and it must work! We are learning from our users’ interactions and responding by developing a stellar interface for a better and easier user experience. Since June, our MVP community on Toolkit has grown to 1000 users.

The current live Pitchspot Toolkit is at The Chassis stage, and everyone is excited to find out more about the ML part. Hold on! It’s coming up next.

Stage Two — The Engine: Data Analytics and Machine Learning

Intuitively, the previous stage is named “The Chassis” because we want to frame the way users interact with the web-app. “The Chassis” of the Pitchspot Toolkit is the Gain-Inertia-Pain Canvas that users can put in their ideas’ benefits (The Gain), what is hindering their progress (The Inertia), and the downsides/side-effects/costs of using their idea (The Pain). If you are observant, the Pitchspot Toolkit actually helps our users to frame the ideation process for their customers, be it in a B2B or B2C model, in a user-centric way.

Add in the benefits, downsides, and hindrances to the progress of your idea into the Gain-Inertia-Pain Canvas

“The best user experience will be the next user’s minimum expectations”

As for our Data analytics and ML engine, we gather information from successful startups, cluster them into the same suite of categories (eg. marketplace, e-commerce) and frame them into the Gain-Inertia-Pain Canvas as curated datasets. We will be pushing these curated data into our Case-Based Reasoning System with the help of Natural Language Processing (NLP) packages.

The goal here is to understand your idea in terms of the Gain-Inertia-Pain Canvas, and recommend you certain Gain-Inertia-Pain that you might not have thought of. Through learning about the traits of successful companies, you will be equipped with an alternative method to assess your idea with the world’s data. In addition, you will be able to bring your idea to the fullest potential by working alongside a mentor through this smart canvas.

Stage Three — The Fuel: The Global Entrepreneurial Community

It is the community that keeps us going, and Pitchspot wants to build a safe haven for you to find like-minded people, resources, and the perspectives and directions to kick start your ideas. We serve our users with the assessment of the most recent data used to train our ML engine, and crowd-curation for successful startups in Gain-Inertia-Pain Canvas is a way to keep our data set updated. Every idea on-boarded to Pitchspot will receive healthy and constructive feedback. Starting up may be a lonely journey but this will change with The Global Entrepreneurial Community on Pitchspot Toolkit. Our community is the Fuel to the Engine.

Current Stage

We are currently working on Stage Two of the development process, and more features will soon be released on our platform for early adopters to try out. Do create an account and try it out here!

Till then, continue to hustle, and stay strong; This is Team Pitchspot signing off!
