A surreal US road trip

Yesterday, I’m sure we’d put some distance between us and our pursuers. I felt safer lost in the metropolis of downtown Cleveland. The alarm went off at 5:20 as I awoke from a dream of pounding music.
“Cleveland Rocks! Cleveland Rocks! 🎸🥁🎤 The song by Ian Hunter, from Mott the Hoople, of All the Young Dudes fame, written by David Bowie. How did I know all this? Eric’s record collection. Eric had introduced me to all sorts of strange music. I owe it to Eric to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’m sure we’ve got time.”
“As long as we’re back on the road by 10am.”
“Awesome, June. I’m so excited.”
“Well, whatever you do, don’t be telling Eric how excited you are.”
It was too late. Eric had already made a request from the gift shop, so I could hardly let him down. I’d promised him a Cleveland Rocks! t shirt whether June liked it or not.
