If you were to look through our site, you’d see only a smattering of posts on the topic of an Initial Coin Offering (ICO). While an important part of many cryptocurrency projects worldwide, it’s not all that big of a deal for the PIVX community. Mainly because there wasn’t one.
As an active lurker and a sometimes banter-er on our Discord server, I’ve seen a few open discussions of the topic over the last year. Nothing major, but it is there. That noted, I did two nights of research to fully understand the implications of an ICO, crypto, and our…
We are extremely happy to announce that the PIVX network upgrade (v5.2.0 hard fork) at block height 2927000 went very smoothly as expected!
This means that we have successfully plugged some critical vulnerabilities in our network, and Cold Staking got re-activated!
Just in case, please ensure that your v5.2 wallet matches the block/hash of the block explorer to ensure your wallet has switched over correctly.
If you are NOT running v5.2.0 or higher, then please make sure to upgrade as soon as you can, as the older versions are no longer supported on the PIVX network.
Also, here are some…
Recently, an article was published comparing the energy expenses of the global banking industry, Bitcoin mining, and the user/financial protection project PIVX. The gist of it is simple enough; it takes energy to make money work. In the case of the legacy banking industry, it takes enormous amounts of costly power. However, this time we’re changing course to discuss an important editorial comment in that article;
Editors Note: “For transparency — the PIVX project is community run and managed — by a DAO (Decentralized autonomous organization). This is not an endorsement of DAOs which can behave very differently.”
Some may consider my choice of words in the title, “the PIVX DAO Works,” somewhat bold. But, the fact is, it’s worked up to this point, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t work in the future.
Let’s back this up a little; I think I may be getting a little ahead of myself in presenting this the correct way. Let’s first examine what a DAO is, isn’t, and how PIVX uses it to govern. The three letters D-A-O are short for Decentralized Autonomous Organization, a term that has a fairly specific meaning.
Decentralized — There is no central location for…

I recently wrote a light post on what a privacy coin is. After I’d written that, I took a night to reflect on the words I chose to share. And it dawned on me; I lumped all privacy coins into one grouping. When, in fact, not all coins in this genre are the same.
While most, if not all, of the coins in this category can provide some protection of your funds or identity, very (very) few of them could maintain those same protections while remaining within the confines of the law for interstate/international money wire transfer laws. And that…
