OMS Recipe
The best way to reduce coronavirus infection is to increase personal hygiene, especially for the hands.
Using masks without being infected is, as well as useless, also a way to speed up the process of contagion, because you are brought to touch your face to adjust the mask when move.
So in case you have trouble finding a hand sanitizer, OMS has made public a recipe for making a hand sanitizer at home.
What do you need:
- Pure alcohol 96 (the simple alcohol for making alcoholic drinks)
- Purified water
- Hydrogen peroxide at 3% or 10 volumes
- Glycerol (you can find it in the pharmacy or even on the internet)
- 1 liter graduated container
The procedure:
- Pour 833ml of alcohol into the container (don’t worry if you’re not super precise)
- Pour 42ml of hydrogen peroxide
- Mix
- Add 15 ml of glycerol, we need glycerol to make the solution more viscous and therefore similar to a gel.
- Mix
- Add purified water up to one liter (if you do not have purified water available you can use previously boiled normal water)
- Mix and leave to rest for a few minutes
The gel is ready.
