Since its inception, PIX has envisioned reshaping urban environments. Grounded in our contemplation of the ultimate future, we have redefined the next generation of automobiles as “Moving Spaces.” No longer mere transportation vehicles, cars now serve as versatile Moving Spaces that offer a range of services. This transformation will ultimately reshape cities, turning them into truly interconnected, responsive, and configurable super-organisms.

Beyond their fundamental function of transport, cars can now transform into meeting rooms, personal libraries, gyms, or even cafés… They can “come and go” according to individual needs. This is not a vision of the future; it is the imminent reality.

After a year of iterative development, PIX Moving Space is proud to announce the official release of the 2.0 version of RoboBus. Over the past year, our products have been produced in small quantities, delivered, and deployed for operational use in various countries worldwide, including China, Spain, the United States, Japan, India, and others. They have garnered high praise from global customers for their exceptional value-for-money and futuristic technological aesthetic.

As the unmanned shuttle version of PIX Moving Space, RoboBus provides short-distance shuttle services ranging from 3 to 10 kilometres. Currently, it is available in two versions: autonomous driving and remote control.

The autonomous driving version primarily serves customers in scenic areas, universities, airports, smart parks, smart cities, and intelligent connected vehicle demonstration zones.

The remote control version, on the other hand, is fully open-source and caters to software development companies, research institutions, universities, and corporate innovation centres.

01/ PIX Moving Space Robobus — Autonomous Driving Version

RoboBus employs a multi-sensor fusion strategy, incorporating laser radar, millimeter-wave radar, cameras, and ultrasonic radar. This comprehensive perception system enables precise identification and analysis of surrounding obstacles, pedestrians, vehicles, and road signs, ensuring safe driving in various road and weather conditions.

The cloud dispatch system is a dedicated operational management platform developed by PIX Moving to facilitate the management of unmanned vehicle fleets and ensure their stable and efficient operation. It encompasses functionalities such as fleet management, real-time data processing, live video monitoring, emergency takeover, message notifications, alarm alerts, remote driving, over-the-air updates (OTA), user management, map management, and operational log recording.

Within the platform, management personnel can intuitively and instantly observe information such as vehicle routes, current locations, and vehicle data, allowing for effective real-time supervision and online management control of all vehicles within the fleet.

To provide better adaptability for software development companies, research institutions, and universities, PIX RoboBus offers the open-source remote control version, which shares the same basic configuration as the autonomous driving version but removes sensors, computing platforms, algorithms, and dispatch systems. It provides interfaces for communication control via the CAN protocol, advanced control mode interfaces, power supply interfaces, and sensor installation interfaces.

Additionally, PIX assists algorithm companies in providing adaptation solutions for autonomous driving software and hardware, as well as designing sensor layouts, enabling developers to implement autonomous driving applications in various scenarios swiftly.

Currently, we have provided the remote control version to prominent enterprises such as JeGo from the United States, Zhuishi Technology and Yukuang Technology from China.

03/ Multiple Safety Redundancy

From the initial design phase, RoboBus incorporates comprehensive safety measures regarding chassis control, autonomous driving, and dispatch systems. In the chassis control aspect alone, Robobus implements a three-layer safety redundancy system. When the system detects a failure in one controller, another controller activates to provide basic functional backup. If those two controllers fail, there is the last layer of safety redundancy that ensures the basic braking function of the chassis.

Moreover, RoboBus can be equipped with FAE(Field Application Engineer) engineers who intervene in cases of strategy defects, system failures, rule policy issues, or human-caused operation failures. This additional layer of safety ensures enhanced operational security.

04/ Cost-Effectiveness

PIX has revolutionized its R&D process with the implementation of the self-developed skateboard chassis and an advanced design and manufacturing toolchain. This system incorporates technologies such as PAM™ (PIX Algorithm Modeling), RTM™ (Realtime Manufacturing), and metal 3D printing. As a result, the R&D costs are significantly reduced, boasting a remarkable 60% decrease compared to traditional development methods.

PAM™ (PIX Algorithm Modeling) is an integrated generative design platform based on AI algorithms, enabling a 60% improvement in parts design efficiency and over 20% efficiency gain in lightweight design compared to experienced engineers.

RTM™ (Realtime Manufacturing) is a moldless forming technology that allows for metal sheet forming without dedicated molds or fixtures, reducing significant costs associated with mold development and design.

RTM™(Realtime Manufacturing)

The integration of PAM™ and RTM™ bridges the gap between design and manufacturing, significantly reducing product development costs, shortening development cycles, and meeting the market demands of autonomous driving, characterized by small production batches and rapid iterations.
