PIX Moving recently partnered with TIER IV to supply white-label driverless autonomous driving Robobus. As per the alliance, TIER IV will provide “Fanfare”, an innovative solution designed to ease and accelerate the production of AD-enabled electric vehicles (EVs), while PIX Moving takes charge of producing unmanned minibuses (Robobus).

01/ “Fanfare”

The Japanese government is at the forefront of the Level 4 AD initiative, with a goal to deploy Level 4 AD services in at least 50 regions by 2025 and 100 regions by 2027 in Japan. However, the current market faces challenges in procuring affordable EVs certified for Level 4 AD services to meet the high demand.

In response, TIER IV has partnered with multiple car manufacturers including PIX Moving to provide AD-enabled EVs in the Japanese market.

02/ PIX Robobus scale in Japan

The introduction of Robobus, PIX Moving’s in-house driverless minibus, in Japan, is a game-changer for the transportation industry, enabling city dwellers to travel in a more hassle-free, productive, and eco-friendly manner. At the beginning of July, the first Robobus will leave the PIX C-Zone digital manufacturing factory and head to Tokyo, Japan, marking the beginning of the age of fully automated transportation.

Robobus has undergone extensive testing in multiple countries including China, Spain, the USA, India, and others.

03/Public Transport Trends

Congestion in major cities across Japan suggests that public transportation could be a promising market for self-driving technology. Consumers are shifting toward using public transportation due to demographic shifts, labour shortages, and rising costs associated with society. The goal of the PIX Moving and TIER IV partnership is to use autonomous driving technology to improve public transportation’s efficiency and creativity while addressing issues like a lack of drivers and high labour costs.

PIX has teamed up with TIER IV and TIS Corporation (Japan’s top IT integrator) to pioneer the next step in urban mobility for cities worldwide. We welcome local governments, institutions, integrators, and partners who have been instrumental in the growth of Moving Space to join us as we pioneer the next wave of innovative global Urban Mobility solutions.

About PIX

PIX Moving Space (mSpace) will be the main fully-autonomous driving product representing the third-generation automobile revolution.
