We’re nuking them right of the face of this fine Earth

Starting on February 1st, 2024 we will be dropping support for our old prefixed commands and only supporting slash commands instead!

Are you one of the 15% of users who still use PixxieBot’s prefixed commands?

Do you avoid Discord slash commands “because they suck”?

Well I have news for you my friend! We used to think that too, but they’ve improved a lot since release!

Literally me talking to Discord devs

Why tho?

Discord introduced slash commands back in early 2021 as the new way forwards to interact with bots. We decided to continue supporting prefixed commands to help our loyal users transition, and also because we believed slash commands were not good enough at the time and were less convenient to use.

Things have changed though over the last 3 years! Discord have improved slash commands a lot and in recent months they have become a lot quicker and easier to use than before!

Also, over 85% of you already prefer slash commands over prefixed commands!

But fr tho…

Beyond slash commands just being an overall nicer experience, prefixes have been holding us back since every new feature or bug fix often has to make special accommodations for prefixed commands, extending development time and adding workload, just to support 15% of our monthly active users. By dropping support, we hope to speed up our development process and take full advantage of slash command features, allowing us to release more features more quickly and fix issues in a more timely manner.

TL;DR

We’re killing off -prefixed commands on Feb 1st... k thx bai
