Thanks to our developers’ feedback, every two weeks, Placenote gets a bit better than it was before. Today, we’re announcing SDK 1.6.9, one of the biggest updates to Placenote yet. This release contains some of the most requested changes to the SDK, including a completely revamped set of sample apps, completed documentation and a beta release of theSpatial Capture toolkit.

What’s new in this update?

  1. 6 new sample scenes (for Unity)
  2. Updated documentation for every Placenote feature (for Unity)
  3. Spatial capture toolkit is ready to download (for Unity)

New Sample Code and Documentation (Unity)

There are now 6 new sample projects in the Placenote/Examples/ folder that show you how to use each Placenote feature. Samples include saving and loading a map, saving meta data, managing maps and integrating with ARKit functions like hit testing and plane detection.

To go along with the samples, we have updated the documentation with tutorials to help you follow the sample code easily.

Check out the new documentation here.

Spatial Capture Toolkit (Unity)

Many of our developers asked us for a way to align AR content in a Placenote map remotely. The spatial capture toolkit will let you scan an area, capture a point cloud with ARKit planes and then load those into the Unity editor to align 3D content accurately in the map. The video below illustrates this concept.

You can read about how to use the toolkit in the documentation here.

The Placenote Capture app is now in beta and you can download it here. Open this link on your mobile device in the Safari browser, and follow the instructions to install.
